Will holdovers Jurassic World and Inside Out finally be dethroned this weekend? Yes, absolutely. This weekend is the week, Jurassic World and Inside Out will finally not be 1 and 2 at the US box office. With the massive animated film Minions hitting the US this weekend, after it has been playing in some places internationally for weeks it is sure to make a massive splash. I see the kids and families coming out in force this weekend to see Minions, I would say it joins the $100 million opening weekend club this weekend making around $110 million.
I see Jurassic World holding onto that second spot making around $20 million for the weekend. Then Inside Out making around $18 million, taking a bit of a hit from Minions which is why I see it falling from 1st to 3rd place this weekend. Terminator Genisys will take fourth with around $15 million, the film isn’t doing to good in the states and will be lucky to hit $100 million domestically but international tickets are strong and the future relies on that. In fifth I see new release Self-Less, starring Ryan Reynolds and Ben Kingsley rounding out the top 5 with $10 million.
1. Minions- $110 million
2. Jurassic World- $20 million
3. Inside Out- $18 million
4. Terminator Genisys- $15 million
5. Self-Less- $10 million
