Marvel’s first family couldn’t overcome horrible reviews from both critics and audiences alike as well as its months and months of bad publicity as Fantastic Four opened well below projections.

The reboot of Fantastic Four came in second with an estimated $26.2 million bow, this is well below its projections earlier in the week of $40-50 million and one of the worst big budget superhero movie openings in recent memory. This is a massive hit to Fox, they will struggle to break even on this film let alone a profit.

In first was holdover Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation, beating out Fantastic Four with an estimated $29.4 million.

In third was new release The Gift, making an estimated $12 million. In fourth was Vacation making an estimated $9.1 million. And rounding out the top 5 was Ant-Man, hanging around the top 5 for another week making an estimated $7.8 million.

  1. Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation- $29.4 million.
  2. Fantastic Four- $26.2 million.
  3. The Gift- $12 million.
  4. Vacation- $9.1 million.
  5. Ant-Man- $7.8 million.

So how did I go with my predictions? Well I got a 0/5 :(. My first ever 0/5, I didn’t expect Fantastic Four to bomb this hard and I didn’t expect Vacation and The Gift to do that well, oh well, better luck next week hey.
