Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials debuted on top of the US box office this weekend with an estimated $30.3 million. This is lower than what the first Maze Runner did last year ($32.5 million) but it is still a great score for 20th Century Fox.
In second was a return to form for Johnny Depp for both his acting and box office. Black Mass made an estimated $23.4 million. A great score for WB and Depp.
In third was The Visit, moving down one spot from last week making an estimated $11.4 million. In fourth was The Perfect Guy, having a bad second weekend making an estimated $9.6 million.
Rounding out the top 5 was Everest, only being released in IMAX this weekend making an estimated $7.6 million.
- Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials- $30.3 million.
- Black Mass- $23.4 million.
- The Visit- $11.4 million.
- The Perfect Guy- $9.6 million.
- Everest- $7.6 million.
So how did I go in my predictions? Well I got 2/5. I was right with the first two positions being Maze Runner and Black Mass, but what screwed me over was Everest only being released in IMAX this weekend. I wasn’t aware of that prior to the weekend and that’s what screwed me. Oh well, always next weekend.
