R.L. Stines best-selling novels have made the jump to film successfully with Goosebumps taking the top spot at the US box office. Goosebumps made a sweet $23.5 million.

In second was The Martian, having another stellar weekend with a $21.5 million third weekend take.

In third was the Steven Spielberg directed, Tom Hanks starring film Bridge of Spies taking in $15.4 million in its first weekend of release.

In fourth was Guillermo Del Toro’s Crimson Peak, taking in a disappointing $12.8 million, Del Toro’s lowest¬†opening ever for a¬†major studio.

And rounding out the top 5 was Hotel Transylvania 2 hanging around the top 5 with a $12.3 million haul.

  1. Goosebumps- $23.5 million.
  2. The Martian- $21.5 million.
  3. Bridge of Spies- $15.4 million.
  4. Crimson Peak- $12.8 million.
  5. Hotel Transylvania 2- $12.3 million.

So how did I go in my predictions? Well I got 2/5 :/. I got Goosebumps and Hotel Transylvania 2 right but the rest wrong. I expected Crimson Peak to do much better then it did but it wasn’t to be.
