US BOX OFFICE: ALL NEWCOMERS BOMB, MARTIAN RISES TO FIRST IN FOURTH WEEKEND!

All of the many newcomers have bombed this weekend, with The Martian able to whether the storm and top the US box office for the third time.

The Martian scored a sweet fourth weekend take of $15.9 million, just beating the second placed Goosebumps which made $15.5 million in its second weekend. In third was Bridge of Spies, doing good business in its second weekend with a take of $11.4 million. In fourth was The Last Witch Hunter, the movie that faired the best among newcomers making a pultry $10.4 million on an estimated $80 million budget. Rounding out the top 5 was Hotel Transylvania 2 with a $9 million haul.

Among other notable newcomers in the top 10, Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimensions came in at a series low $8.2 million first weekend. Given the film was played in 1000 less screens because of its VOD release plan. And Steve Jobs, the critically acclaimed film fell flat in wide release after doing really well in limited release, it landed in seventh with $7.3 million.

  1. The Martian- $15.9 million.
  2. Goosebumps- $15.5 million.
  3. Bridge of Spies- $11.4 million.
  4. The Last Witch Hunter- $10.4 million.
  5. Hotel Transylvania 2- $9 million.

In terms of my predictions I got a 0/5 :(. I expected all of the newcomers to do much better then they did but the audience just didn’t want to see them, oh well.
