US BOX OFFICE: MOCKINGJAY PART 2 HAS WEAKEST OPENING FOR THE FRANCHISE!!!

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 easily won the box office this weekend, but it wasn’t all good news for the finale of the franchise. Mockingjay made $101 million, which is a great result but compared to the other films in the franchise it’s a bit disappointing. Part 2 has posted the lowest opening for the franchise, a downward trend that started with Part 1.

In second was Spectre, making $14.6 million. In third was The Peanuts Movie, taking in $12.8 million. In fourth was new release comedy The Night Before making $10.1 million. And rounding out the top 5 was Secret In Their Eyes making $6.6 million.

  1. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2- $101 million.
  2. Spectre- $14.6 million.
  3. The Peanuts Movie- $12.8 million.
  4. The Night Before- $10.1 million.
  5. Secret In Their Eyes- $6.6 million.

So how did I go in my predictions? I got 4/5, I got everything but fifth right. I thought The Martian would stick around another week but it wasn’t to be.
